Autoball is an app to help sports fans log and manage their autograph collections.
For years I’ve taken my son to Wrigley Field to get autographs from Chicago Cubs players. I have found, however, it’s easy to lose track of which autograph is which. On a baseball, “Cody Bellinger” doesn’t look all that different from “Cody Poteet.”
I made Autoball so that as soon as he gets an autograph, he can photograph it and document who signed it, when, and where. It’s been useful for him, and I hope it’s useful for you, too.
I’d love to hear from you. Email me with your ideas and observations.
On the Collection screen — the first screen you see when you open the app — tap the “Add Autograph” button to begin. You’ll be prompted to take a photo of the item. After that, you can fill in details like the player’s name, the date, and how you acquired it.
Collections are currently limited to 50 autographs.
Expanded capacity is among the premium features currently under development.
Not yet, but that’s a feature I may add later.
This is another feature I’m considering.
No, but I hope to make collections available privately on the Web soon.
At some point I may give users the option to make their collections public, but that opens up several cans of worms. Stay tuned.
Yes. Your autograph collection is tied to your account and is visible only to you. In addition, we do not share or sell your personal data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Your collection data is stored in the cloud, so reinstalling the app and signing back in will restore everything.
Yes. Open the menu and tap Export My Data. This will build a ZIP file containing all of your autograph details as a CSV file, which can be opened in any spreadsheet program, along with your full-size and cropped photos.
Once the archive is ready — usually within a few minutes — you’ll receive an email message with a download link. The link is valid for 7 days. You can submit one export request every 24 hours.
